PARIS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Paris Airport - Paris France has two airports, depending on where you're flying out of, either one will land you in the city of lights. De Gaulle (named after Charles de Gaulle) and 30 km northeast of the city, has been the premier airport. Extended and enlarged it is now quite a monster and can be difficult to navigate - particularly if you want to change terminal. However getting into the citycentre from Roissy De Gaulle and from Orly is simple and straightforward.

Travel Guide

Roissy de Gaulle
A bus “Roissybus”, will take you to the center to Place de l’Opera and takes 45 minutes to make the trip - it goes every 15 minutes and costs about $10-12. The Air France Shuttle bus goes to Porte Maillot in the centre and to some of the major stations. Leaving every 30 minutes it costs about $20.

There is also a Paris Shuttle - telephone 01 55 98 10 808 - which will bring you from the airport to your destination for about $30 but there is a big reduction for second, third, passengers. You have to prebook this service.

Roissyrail is the train link to the centre of Paris and trains leave every 15 minutes with a charge of about $10-12. This is run by RER and the airport is one of the stations on Line B.

Taxi is another option though it is 35km they will whisk you to the centre amazingly quickly. Check the price before you set out.

Orly Airport
This airport is only 18km from the centre of Paris. It is south of the city and access to and from the airport is easy.
The Oryval shuttle train goes from Orly Airport to link with the RER B Line at Anony and trains leave every 7 minutes. The cost is about 10-12 dollars. Paris Shuttle will bring you to your destination but it must be pre booked and the cost is about $30 but each subsequent passenger has a hefty reduction. Telephone number are 01 43 90 91 91 and 01 49 62 78 78.

Beauvais
This airport used by Ryanair is north of the city. A coach is available to bring you to the centre city and it leaves shortly after each arriving Ryanair flight (about 20 minutes after landing so don’t hang around). It brings you to Porte Maillot - Boulevard Pershing. On your return journey allow plenty of time as the coach parks in the Coach Park (not where it leaves you off) and it can be hard to locate the coach you want. On your return journey, you have to get to the coach three and a half hours before your plane is scheduled to leave. The cost of a single ticket is about $17-20 and a return ticket is twice the single fare.

Flights to Paris from the US
There are several easy flights to get you into Paris from the United States. Delta Airlines (tel. 800/241-4141) flies direct from Atlanta, Georgia in to Paris. You can also choose Continental Airlines (tel. 800/525-0280) which leaves out of Newark, New Jersey. Air France (tel. 800/237-2747) flies to Paris from most major cities in the U.S., and if you are flying out of the U.K., your best bet is British Airways (tel. 0870/850-9850.)
